The One Time Offer – Should You Use It In Your Copywriting?

If you’ve bought anything online then you have probably come across those one time offers – “you will not see this page again…”. Does this kind of copywriting work? Should you be using one time offers?

Why do people use the “one time offer” in copywriting? Well, the reason is really simple – creating a sense of urgency helps to increase sales. This can be done by having time-limited offers, number limited offers or, in this case, one time offers. People feel the sense of urgency that if they pass on this offer they will not receive it again and so are more likely to take advantage of it.

Should You Use a One Time Offer?
Offers definitely work in copywriting, but should you use the one time offer? One time offers generally work in certain situations – for example, just after someone has ordered another product from you, offer them a special one time offer; if a subscriber is unsubscribing then offer them a one time offer to try and keep them involved; or if they have just signed up to your newsletter then offer them a one time offer as a thank you. Make sure you have a genuine reason for your one time offer.

Creating Your One Time Offer in Copywriting

Once you have decided to have a one time offer the next step is creating it. Think about what you are going to offer – what product, at what price, and any other items you may want to add to this offer. Then ensure that you have some really compelling copy to convince people they need to take advantage of your offer now. It is also important that it is clear they will not get the same offer again (and make sure they don’t!)

One time offers can help to create a sense of urgency and therefore make more sales and bring in more money. They are generally best used when a person has just bought another product or when they are subscribing or unsubscribing from your newsletter. Be sure to phrase your one time offer in compelling copywriting to add to the sense of urgency and increase the number of people who take advantage of this offer.
